As essential in the past as it is in the modern age, agriculture continues to play a significant role in sustaining the ever-growing population of the world. Similar to our modern consumption requirements, those in ancient civilizations also heavily depended on having a stable food supply. This notion additionally highlights hunger as something every single individual has in common regardless of space and time.
With many of our contemporary crops originating from ancient species, plants such as maize and wheat indicate that we are not as detached from these past practices as we might think. Moreover, this extends onto the commodities produced from many grains, corns, and nuts.
